After retiring from football, former Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng is leading a disciplined life and preparing to begin his journey into coaching. He has had a word with Vincent Kompany and has confirmed he plans on undertaking an internship at the club in order to get first-hand experience working alongside top stars as a coach.
Boateng eyes coaching career
After bringing an end to his playing career, Boateng told he has completed his UEFA B license as he begins his foray into coaching. This has opened a new door to the former Bayern player as he is now set to train world-class players like Harry Kane, Michael Olise, among others. His former teammate, Kompany, with whom he shared the dressing room at Hamburg and Manchester City, is currently in charge of the Bavarians.

Boateng, who retired in September, said: "I successfully completed the training course and the B license exam. I now want to complete a few internships by January. I've already spoken with [Kompany]. I can do an internship at Bayern, and I'm really looking forward to it. We just need to find the right time."
Kompany had previously issued a public invitation to Boateng, saying his expertise would be "valuable" for his players.
Boateng's success at Bayern
Boateng, currently 37, spent 10 years as a Bayern player. Although he was never selected as the official captain, his leadership qualities in the backline had a huge impact on the team. Together with teammates like Thomas Muller, Philipp Lahm, Manuel Neuer and others, he won two Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups, two Club World Cups, five DFB-Pokal titles, five DFL-Supercups and a staggering nine Bundesliga titles.

Boateng's last club was LASK in the Austrian Bundesliga; however, during his stay in the country, he had already kick-started his coaching career. For a small four-month tenure between April and August this year, he worked as the assistant to Andreas Wieland for the LASK reserve team.
